What to put in a magazine?

What should I put in a magazine I'm making? I can't decide what it's going to be about.

Music reviews, small band interviews, articles about where you live (local celebs, movers and shakers, restaurant reviews). Fiction pieces, poetry, recipes, pictures of your dog. It all depends on what you want to write about.

Put news in the magazine that are interesting to your targeted crowds; say it's a fashion or health magazine, give an article on a new research that something can be really good or really bad for your skin. Include interviews with people who interest yourself or readers. if it were a music magazine, you could do local bands or little-known bands on the rise. Add in a hot and not list for the fun of it. Add a few comics, perhaps, political if you're intending a more mature crowd, but limit the number of cartoons. Write a joke section with reader submitted jokes or funny situations that you've experienced that week or month. Give some tips for people on how to improve themselves or how to do something (call this your how-to section). Make the magazine have pictures and have classifieds at the end and charge those posting in the classifieds pay you for taking up space. be sure to include who the pictures are courtesy of. Have a sports briefing, and post certain recipes. Allow readers to submit their own articles, and have a debate question where readers can submit their answers and their reasons. Just a few ideas. Make it an interactive magazine since you seem to be so unsure of yourself. If you get a lot of contribution from readers and writers, you will know the general trend of things that'll make it popular. For example you may get a lot of things about fashion, but hardly about electronics, then you know what your readership likes. You may get a lot of write ups on emotional problems, but nothing on cooking. So you know where to look. Then finally you can llok at the popular categories and decide what the magazine should grow into. It may be a magazine dealong with real life problems, fashion and health. Or it could include a variety of other things, Make sure there is consistency though. You wouldn't want an IT magazine featuring tips on pumping iron and suitable contraception.

Usually a person starts a magazine because they have a passion about something. So I suggest that you make the magazine about something that interest you or a hobby or a passion that you have. You should clearly think about this, alot of people make magazines because of fashion, Celebs, etc.....Try thinking about what you want to put in the magazine and be creative and realistic.

Guys like pics of women wearing skimpy/no clothing.

Also, make sure to put in some good articles so the guys can justify the magazine to their wives...............

think about the magazines YOU read. what doyou like about them? what dont you like? what would you add to them? what would you take away? here are some things i like magazines to have:

beauty and fashion
music/movie/tv reviews
articles on life and guys and stuff
up and coming stars

the best way to be successful, if u want your mag to be one, copy(read get inspired ) what other big successful mags are doing. in the same time try to bring your personal touch to it. good luck to you and your magazine!!!
