Animals are animals. Humans are dominate and animals are just a friend. I love my pets to death but I never think of them before my family. Dogs and cats are great friends but if its just a fish, they aren't anything like humans. They hardly can remember what their doing two minutes after they are eating or something. Animals are here for food and friendship, not to dominate the world. Haha.
Animals also have no feeling of importance. They don't find them any different thean you. They have no sense of who is who or what is what. Dogs and cats remember who you are but they'll treat the rest of your family the same way unless the think you or someone else is the pack leader. Animals are important but not as humans are.

I agree with you but humans feel that this world was made for them along with everything in it. It is wrong because everything from bugs to trees to animals play a crucial part in the environment. I hate how humans exploit everything, and I would help animals before I would some humans, The animals are the innocent ones that do not have a voice. I treat my animals as well as other better than most people(animals treat us better than most people)

Instinct to promote survival of the species. Ironic, people who look down on 'animals' more are living closer to their animal instincts than others.
True though, I haven't heard of any cases where a human knowingly sacrificed their life for an animal, but I have heard of humans doing this for other humans.

Because we are. Humans are more important. To a human at least. I find it funny when people go out of there way to make animals high priority.
If your baby was dangeling from the side of a cliff and next to it was your cat/dog/rat. . . Which would you go for first?
The fact of the matter is when it comes to humans vs animals. Humans come first. I would rather save my baby than to save something that isn't. A cat would do the same. Animals have prioroity too. They don't view humans ( in natrual settings ) as a priority over their own kind.
Finally, I believe that some animals are capable of problem solving and cognative skills. There was an elphant that painted. There is a gorilla that uses sign language. There are dogs that sing. Many animals can communicate in there own way.
I have a dog. I love him to death. and while I would do as much as I could to save his life if it ever needed saving. My human family would come first.

From an evolutionary point of view (if you "believe" in evolution), animals/mammals do not speak any known language that we are familiar with. They communicate in different ways which I find to be fascinating. They don't need to "speak" because they use other forms of communication. Honestly, I find their form of communication to be fascinating because they don't need to speak in order to communicate with each other. Animals and mammals have other forms of communication. They use body language, their heightened sense of hearing, smell, eyesight and something called "sixth sense."
I took an evolutionary psychology class in university and I read many studies regarding animal communication. They do not need to speak because they have other forms of communication. I read a study that if whales had impossible thumbs, they would probably dominate the earth because they do not have the capability to write down information and relate that information to further generations.
However to answer your question, humans are naturally egotistical by nature. We consider ourselves to be on the top of the food chain and because of that, we view any other animals, mammals, etc. to be inferior. It's genetic memory. Humans are actually quite weak compared to other mammals. We possess a lot of qualities that make us that way such as our inability to defend ourselves against mammals such as lions, bears, sharks, etc. We humans have developed tools but so have birds, monkeys, chimps, etc.
In addition, we have practically caused most animals and mammals to be extinct or endangered because of industrialization and development of land. We are destroying the jungles and rain forests as well as the oceans.
Did you know that humans are the most odoriferous mammals of all the mammals? This is why we would otherwise be prey. We have developed technology and due to the Industrial Revolution, we are currently on top of the food chain. However, that can change in a couple of thousands of years. The decline of human civilization will occur in a matter of a couple of thousand years. We are already doing it to ourselves with global warming and we are killing each other everyday.
I apologize for the negative statements but I am just telling you what I read in various studies. Sorry.

I am the biggest animal lover you'll find. But there is a huge difference between animals and humans. Humans are made "a little lower than the angels", animals are made for humanity as pets, friends, and some for food. All should be treated with love, but all are not the same. Men are made in the image of God. But I think I know what you mean. At my friends's church there is a lady who recently became a widow. She has a dog baby who is her comforter. Her church told her she can bring the dog to church because it means so much to her. I think that's great. At my own church that would never happen because of opinions of some of the older people who think animals are 'dirty'. They are missing a big blessing. I pray for all my pets to go to heaven so I can have them again as my pets one day.

Cause it's against the law to have sex with them? Cause they taste like chicken? Cause they can't grasp the concept of money? Cause they won't accept Jesus as their personal savior? Cause they've never said they aren't?
Believe me, there are a LOT of people in this world I place below animals on a scale of importance.

because they're not. notify me if any animal performs any task better than a human would without getting saliva or hair on the object.
i do love animals, it's just that if they were our "equals", then a chimp would've founded modern day medicine, a elephant founded computers, a dog trans-global traveling, etc.

youre asking to much from certain humans-remember half of the human race can't get past the black and white thing (and asian and brown thing) let alone have the ability to see that animals need protection and respect as well.
when humans learn to respect their sorroundings-and not for benefit of money-they'll truly learn to value what earth has given us.
