Products containing activated charcoal will help absorb the odor, not just mask it. You can find them in the grocery store. Or get a container of cat litter (containing the charcoal) and place it in and around the office.
There is nothing worse than smelling old food odors. But, the smell of smoke is more of a health threat. Have you considered speaking with your supervisors about eliminating smoking in your immediate work area? Could they establish special rooms where the smokers can go to smoke so those who are concerned about their health can be in a smoke-free environment?
Reducing smoking is a big issue now. You could go online and find information to support your request and present it to your bosses in a respectful, educated manner. It may be worth a try.

FRIDGE IT to the rescue. No kidding. Someone else answered you with this suggestion too. I've tried lots of products including baking soda which just doesn't get rid of the really bad smells and doesn't last. I found a product called Fridge IT that is a little purple cube with an activated carbon filter inside that is just incredible. Completely fragrance free too which I really like. I was so frustrated with other products then I tried this and couldn't believe how well it worked. So, now I use them all over the house

I've got the perfect answer. I hate those sprays and really don't like most of those fragrances that only cover up odors. There is a product called FRIDGE IT odor absorber. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon odor absorber inside. Completely fragrance free, it just eliminates odors and really, really well. I started using these in my fridge with fantastic results and now use them all around my house including near trash, under sinks and even have friends that use it near cat litter box and diaper pail and in their car to get rid of smoke odor. It is that good. I'd buy a few of these and keep them around your work area. You can find this product in kitchen gadget sections in stores like Walmart and linens and things and also heard in camping world. Really worth trying. So much better than baking soda and some of those other products that use volcanic rocks and mineral salts that are really messy. Look for the purple cube for around $2 - $3 dollars.

There is a product called OdorBan available at Sams and other stores. It can be diluted in a spray bottle. It really removes the pesky odors that smoking, burnt food, bad bathrooms, cars all accumulate. I use it all the time at home (spray like an air freshner) and use more directly into bad areas like the cat's litter box area. I have found this to be highly effective when sprayed on couches, drapes ect. The best is when I clean out my car, it nolonger smells like smoke and McDonalds.

There is a brand of potpourri that comes in a small pretty paper envelope sold in places like Garden Ridge Pottery; they are inexpensive. There are several scents and last a fairly long time. You can keep one on your desk or tack one on your wall. It may not actually be potpourri inside, could be some kind of bead; they are in the candle area. When you shake the envelope, the scent gets refreshed. I used to keep one in my cubicle just for the scent and most people like it.

Have you tryed using Febreeze? It doesn't cover odors, it eliminates them & there are many great scents to choose from. They also have Febreeze for fabrics, that you can spray on computer chairs, curtains, etc.
