I've heard that too but I'm not sure why? I can tell you that I'm pregnant for #5 and I've always taken hot baths before I've concieved (although I try to avoid hot soaks while I'm pregnant!)

No, it's not a myth, for men, though, not women. Too hot a bath can damage the husband's sperm, at least temporarily. The scrotum (that holds a man's testicles) is a separate organ whose job it is to regulate the temperature of the testicles, where the sperm are produced. It stretches when warm to lower the testicles away from the body and the heat it generates and contracts when cold to draw them back up tight against the lower abdomen where it's warm (it's also a fear reaction, to protect them and to make running easier--Nature's wisdom is infinite!). So the temperature in the testicles is important. Soaking them in too hot water overrides the built-in mechanism for regulating the temperature and can lower the sperm count. At least, that's what I've read and I've never heard anything to the contrary.

I have been told that taking HOT baths will "hurt your chances" but taking luke warm baths before you have sex is a good way to help your chances..and keeping track of your ovualtion times are also very important.Perhaps try buying an ovulation kit at your local convience store .Remeber that the doggie postion and the missionary position are good postions to conceive and place a pillow under your butt/hips to elevate yourself so your dont leak out.I would suggest for about 20-30 mintues. GOOD LUCK

I know hot baths are not good for you when you are pregnant, but I haven't heard anything about them being bad before that. If you and your husband have no problems with fertility, then I would just be patient and have fun trying to make the baby. When you take your mind off getting pregnant, that's the time when usually you get pregnant. Relax, put on some soft music, dance with your husband, make love all night long. You will be fine and pregnant in no time. Thank you and good luck.

I'm a nurse and i know that if you take a warm bath with your husband it will not affect your chances of getting pregnant maby you could even try it in the bath and see if it can help get you in the mood e.g candles music long talks sitting and facing each other then do it

A really hot bath, a hot tub, time in the steam room can kill sperm. It just gets too hot and they die. You can take all the warm baths and hot tubbing you want but hubby should not until you conceive then its the other way around. Good Luck!!

Sperms are sensetive and would die in certain temperatures, that is why males had scrotum, which sags when its hot or shrinks during cold weather. If both were taking hot bath while doing it, it would definitely decrease the chances. however im not sure what you question means, if it were u taking regular hot baths without doing anything furhter, then i dun c a problem.

I read all these couples always trying to get pregnant and I do believe that is why it takes so long for all of you. I have 5 kids and all my husband and I did is enjoy each other and do our normal routines and have sex when we wanted to not because we had to. Relax if it is meant to happen then it will. The more a man has sex it lowers his sperm count. So to all of those having sex 3 times or more a day to get pregnant are actually lowering their chances. It is kind of like people telling themselves they are going to diet and fail Don't diet just do a lifestyle change. Anyway good luck.

Very true! For your hubby anyway. Basically it cooks his sperm and lowers his count. My SIL and brother had tried to conceive for 6 yrs. Went to a fertility specialist and found my bros sperm count to be low. The doc said to lay off the hot baths (my brother took them regularly) and no tight undies. (boxers are best) They conceived within 6 months and now have 3 children!

Best of luck!

This didn't affect our chances at all. It only took 5 weeks for us and we take hot baths at night.
