Giving something to someone so that they will better off, and you, yourself doing without.
A good question to go with that would have been : what do you/have you, sacrificed for someone?

A sacrifice is ANYTHING living or non-living( that includes plants and animals) SO DEAR to a person that one is reluctant to give out or lose to the benefit of another, but still gives it out or loses it because of LOVE.
Jesus Christ paid the sacrifice for the sin of mankind. God gave him out as a Lamb of sacrifice.
Paul the Apostle said, Present yourself a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto GOD.
When you sacrifice an amount of money for something, that means that the thing did not deserve that amount of money, but that you spent or SACRIFICED that amount out of shear curiosity, care or LOVE.

Slaughtering a lamb, smearing its blood on the walls, then roasting the flesh with bitter herbs and eating flat bread with it, or so it mentioned in a chapter on Ezekiel.
