Rabbits groom each other and who ever they are affectionate with. (Ever watch a litter of babies play together? They lick and clean each other after play. Bonded adults will do the same.) It means he likes you and has bonded with you.
Humans generally don't have that much salt on our hands, and rabbits do not need additional salt if they are fed a well balanced diet. (Excess salt, salt licks, etc. will cause the rabbit to drink excess water and may put a strain on the kidneys. Salt licks for rabbits are another way Pet Product Companies get you spend your money!)

It looks like a carrot. My rabbit also did this, I thought it was a sign of affection. Others say they like the salt from our skin. Sometimes it would bite, perhaps a little of both.

maybe it is because animals with long hair get hairballs and they lick your fingers to get the oil off to disolve the hair in the throut, or it could need a salt block because they like salt you can buy on at a pet store.

It could be salt on your skin, or the smell of something you've handled. My hamster started to bite my fingers because I'd been peeling potatoes but he realised it was me and stopped.

It's a grooming thing. That is how they clean themselves so they also groom their humans, but only if they really love you. My rabbit used to do that too, I always considered it an honour.
