What exactly do you mean by irregular? Irregular b/c you can never tell when you're going to get your period or irregular compared to the textbook cycles?

Charting is a really great and inexpensive way (especially compared to fertility specialists) to figure out what is going on w/ your cycles. The sad fact is that many, many docs do not know very much if anything about charting.

I'd recommed checking out Taking CHarge of Your Fertiltiy or Garden of Fertility from the library (or buy them if you want). TCOYF has a great website at ovusoft.com and also some software. Fertilityfriend.com has software too (and a free version if you want to start there) and an online tutorial for starting charting.

I've talked to so many women online who had fertility problems for so long and even treatments w/o success, started charting and were able to discover the problem and take care of it themselves. SOmetimes, it's only a matter of learning when you actually ovulate as opposed to when "they" say you are supposed to ovulated (in other words Day 14).

Well with most women it is the first half of your cycle, before ovulation, that will vary from month to month. The length of time from ovulation to your period usually stays relatively stable (normally around 12-16 days). So really you need to find out when you ovulate... and the few days leading up to that will be your most fertile.

Try tracking your cycles with http://www.fertilityfriend.com/
Taking your BBT (basal body temperature) each morning before you get out of bed, and keeping an eye on your cervical mucus will help you to identify your most fertile times. FertilityFriend will take the data you enter and analyse it to determine fertile times, ovulation, when your period should be expected, and what your chances are for pregnancy based on your intercourse pattern before ovulation for each cycle.

I hope this helps answer a few of you questions, Good luck catching that egg!

i know, its so frustrating when you don't know exactly when your going to come on, my last period was 8 days late and it really annoys me!! Some of us are lucky enough to hard regular, light and short periods whilst the rest of us get the irregular, long and heavy ones, im one of the unfortunate ones and looks like you are to!! Don't worry hunni, irregular periods may be a pain in the back side but it won't make trying for children to much difficult than what it would be if you had regular periods.xx
