I have twin 3 mth old girls. Right now we dress them in the same outfits but different colors. I also make sure that one is not always in the same color. When are twins too old to dress alike?

as a mother of twins i plan on doing it until i am told by them they don't like it. i am also going to let them begin to pick out what they want to wear (of course with some guidance lol ), and if they choose different things, then so be it!! they are going to have different personalites and will address it then by the clothes that they decide to wear. they are so adorable when they are dressed alike, and so i would say for at least until you see the personality differences in them clearly. but think for sure i will when they are around 6 or so, but its all about you. if you feel like you should stop, then do so. i know my mom dressed all of me and my sisters alike until i was about 10.... just little variations in the outfits. i hated it lol but it was always cute to see me my 7 and 8 year old sister all dressed like each other...

So many people find it oh so cute to dress alike but try not dressing them alike, give them a chance to be their own person. My friends sister had twin girls and she never dressed them alike, never in the same outfit. She actually has one with bangs and one without bangs, they are 4 now. She let them from birth develop their own personality. So many people just dress their kids a like because its just cute for everyone else, but its so much cheaper at this stage to buy one peice of clothing rather then two of the same. They are going to grow out of them so fast, so why spend the money on getting doubles. Wait till they are older and let them decide. I mean you don't have to dress them alike, but if they both like the same outfit, then get two but wear them at different times. Plus this way people can tell them apart. Another thing my friends sister did was one girl wore pink and green clothes and the other one wore purple or yellow, that way she knew who was who as they were identical and everyone else could tell. Just a few ideas but let them be them, there may be two but they are two different girls who will grow up and be so different anyways.

My mom would put my sister and I in the same outfits all the time and we aren't twins. The last time I can remember it was when I was about 10 and my sister was 12. My godchildren are twins and will be two in March. They still dress alike and they love it! They do put them in different colors as well and they're identical. It is truley up to them!

Birth.

Seriously, they are different ppl and should be dressed as such. I think it's okay if older twins want to dress alike but it gives me the creeps a little when I see twins dressed alike so young. Let them develop into whoever they will be. They may be very much alike or they may be very different. Either way, it should be celebrated.

I think a lot of twins have dressed a like for as long as they feel comfortable doing so. My nieces are twins and are 12 and they dress a like still. Different colors as well. They enjoy the attention they get, and it's fun to confuse others on which one is which.

You sound like you're doing fine right now with the colors. I'd make sure there is always something different in their outfits (for self-defense, if nothing else!). I'd let them make the choice of how different they want to be as they grow and their tastes become different. A lot of twins really like the sameness, as long as you treat them as individuals (they really don't like to be referred to all the time as "the twins" as though they were one unit, I've noticed).

I have twins and I have never dressed them a like. Same outfit, different color is O.K., but remember they are individuals, so treat them that way. You don't want people to refer to them as "the twins" as if they are one, do you?

at birth, i think twins should be given the right to be two separate individual people. i dont like when people always dress their twins alike and always call them "The Twins" like they dont each have their own name. i understand that its cute to dress them alike and its ok sometimes and for some pictures, but i would suggest dressing them opposite eachother sometimes too.

stop the madness now. start mixing it up a bit. when they get old enough let them pick their own clothes or help you pick them out. I've seen too many pairs of adult twins dressing alike to not think it could happen to them. Our earliest memories are the most powerful - even the ones we don't remember conciously.

When they are old enough to say "I don't like that" or "I want to be different". Seeing children dressed alike is cute, but after a short time, when they have their own destinct personalities, they should be dressed differently. Just dress them to coordinate with each other when you are having pictures taken.
