My boyfriend and I have been going out for a month and a half, well in that time, he got his class ring, and lost it (over new years) I'd like to replace it for him for Valentines day, but I didn't know if that's too much money on one gift, if I do though I'd call his mom, so that I could use the warranty and insurance he had on it so it wouldn't cost so much only about $50 for a $500 ring, the only reason he hasn't done so himself is b/c he's more concerned about fixing his truck, and he's short on cash right now b/c cuz his truck broke a while back, but I know he'd really like to have his ring back...wut do yall think?

I think it's a very sweet thing to do! Go ahead and call his mom and get with her on it. He will appreciate having his ring replaced, and she will appreciate your asking for her help.

To veggiebyte, he may have lost the ring in an accident or something. Just because something gets lost, that does not mean he is irresponsible!

No, that is way too much for a high school student to spend. You answered the question yourself, he is more concerned about fixing his truck. Don't call his mom; she will more than likely tell you not to spend so much. And if he lost a $500 ring, then obviously he is too irresponsible to own something valuable. Sorry to be harsh; it is just that you are so young and don't waste your money on silly gifts. And a month and a half is NOT that long. Don't use your hard earned cash when the relationship may or may not work out. Things can change in the matter of a day; especially in high school.

If you coordinate with his mom and work together on the replacement, it sounds like a good idea.

The thing to remember is that your relationship may not last and if it doesn't then try to remember that you did a good thing by replacing his ring --- even though he may seem like a rat after your potential break up....

Sorry, that was a bit complicated, what I'm saying is you may be giveing a $50 gift to some one you may not last with, and if it doesnt last dont regret the gift.

I personally think that jewelry is too expensive a gift if you've only been dating a month.

I think it's a very good idea. Very creative and thoughtful. No, it's not too much too soon. I think it's great!
