But seriously folks, try this. I know it sounds wierd. Use the black magic marker. If it is a small area, swipe the mark with the flat side of the marker, while simultaneously wiping with a clean dry cloth along the same path. You don't have to get it all on the first try, but you must wipe quickly, before the new mark dries. Always use a different spot on the cloth each time you wipe or you may get residue reapplied. If it is a large area, lighter fluid or Goo Gone might work.

if you can't get them off after scrubbing, there's about nothing left without harming the wood.

if it's too much to sand and refinish, there are these brown permanent markers that are made for filling in imperfections or marks or chips or anything wrong with wood furniture.

they come in almost any shade of brown, & you can buy them at the pharm, home depot, or almost anywhere.

it's worked for me several times. you can't even tell since the color perfectly blends with the wood color.

Black Marker is really hard to get out. Try spraying hairspray, yes Hairspray on it. It may take several times doing it, but hopefully it will take it out..

Acetone (nail polish remover)

This will also take off the finish, so you will need to refinish it with varnish or polyurethane, or whatever your desk is finished with.

Be absolutely sure it is wood before you do this. If it is fake wood (plastic or paper) you will ruin it.
