No. Just teach them the King's English and maybe a little Spanish. I am not racist at all but the thought of teaching Ebonics makes my skin crawl. I hate to think of what I as a professional would be doing to the English language. Besides I have never seen an Ebonics dictionary or a book of Ebonics grammar. Have you?

Absolutely not.

Ebonics is not a language, it's a dialect.

Education is important for setting a strong foundation for a person to conduct the rest of their lives in a manner conducive to a strong society. What benefit would teaching ebonics possibly have?

You are not going to get a better job sounding like an idiot.

People respnd to this idea like its all schools and across all cirriculums. Of course we shouldnt teach our students bad grammar at a formative age (Even though that is regularly being done anyway across the country by teacher's with other odd regional dialects)

Ebonics can be usefull in some settings to make langauge study more interesting. We allready do this in a sense in some schools English classes (like when we're talking about slave poetry and music) In an internatinal setting and at a comprehension level Ebonics is usefull for a variation of dificulty and style in linguistic styles. For example I have asked some of my advanced English students (In Poland) to translate rap music lyrics (by paragraph) from informal and vulgar and potentially offsenive to proper, grammatical, elevated diction exercises in formal english. While this example requires some awarenes of a groups maturity and tolerance, As long as it is done with respect I don't see why this can't be an educational exercise at white high schools across the country..

I've actually found that many students like this assignment and have fun doing it.It doesn't have to be just rap, we can consider other genres of music, art to contain "ebonics" and still be valuable educationally.

We dont have to encourage our student's to speak like this but we can recognize it as a unique way that people do speak and validate it while promoting other standards.

It is not a language. Some schools tried that as a sneaky means to get added funds for their schools by saying ebonics was the primary language of hteir students, and they would be learning english as a second language.

What does this say? Blacks aren't bright enough to speak properly? They need additional instruction to learn english despite the fact they're from here? That's insulting and rediculous.

No! School is about providing an education for the child's future in the adult world. Exactly where does Ebonics come into play in the adult world? No country does business in Ebonics.

No. In fact I don't believe in teaching dialects. I think it's stupid. Besides, anyone who's not a complete idiot can understand ebonics. But I do believe in teaching Obamics!

No it is NOT a good idea, why can't they just teach black people to speak clearly and enunciate the English language. I have heard this so-called Ebonics language, and to me, it just makes them sound stupid and uneducated. If black people want to be treated as equals to whites, why do they strive so hard to be different from whites?? I do understand the desire to to be proud of their heritage, but was this language really a part of it. Would the black people as a race not be more proud of their heritage if they bettered themselves in positive ways and not trying to force these odd things on others. I would pull my children from any school public or private who thought to implement this course of study into the curriculum.

No. Ebonics is a made up crap language that is used by ignorant colored folk. Unless we want to take a giant step back, then we should not teach our children this BS. Whats next? teach them how to talk in clicks and whistles like the bush dwelling savages of africa? Maybe we should teach the girls to carry baskets on their heads and let their titties flop free, and teach the males to throw spears and put bones through their noses. We should teach the ****** english, maybe then they could get jobs and stop collecting welfare.

No I do not think so. English should be taught.

The national language should be taught in schools and that should also be the promary language spoken.

i.e. If you live in the US. they speak English and all items should be in english, not english, spanish, french, german, etc.

If you live in France, teach and speak frecnh.

I am getting tired of having to change our country to make others more at home. If you come to America learn english. If you move to america, learn english. Do not expect us to have thing translated for you.
