Don't be overly attentive. Don't let your guests just sit with dirty dishes in front of them when they are done eating. Treat all of your guests equally but make them all feel special. Listen to your guests. If I say I want a glass of milk with my meal don't bring it before my food. If there are food problems correct them & make the guest happy. Remember the guest is your reason for being at all times. Without them you have nothing. Don't be too personable. The guest don't want to hear about how bad your day is, etc, etc. Be professional at all times. Don't serve something you would not eat yourself. Don't argue with the guest. They are always right no matter what. Thank them for coming to your restaurant as they have lots of other choices. Bring any problems your guests may have to the attention of the manager. Always offer an appetizer before the meal & dessert afterwards. In general the more they spend the more they will tip. Not all guests are the same so don't treat them the same. Be personable & fun to deal with. At the end of the meal when you give them the guest check be sure to thank them again & let them know you appreciate the fact they chose your restaurant & invite them to come back soon.
