My son has a hair in his eye, and it's not a really short one, I've tried to get it out but haven't succeeded (he's way too squirmy) if I leave it alone can it do damage? Someone told me that it may get wrapped around things behind his eye and cause damage, is this true? What should I do?

No it can't get wrapped around the eye. Yes it could scratch the eye, but that would heal.

Gently rub the eyelid from inner corner to outer corner.

Or try using some plain boiled water -cooled to body or room temp (because you can get it everywhere and have a lot) and just flush the eye.

It shouldn't cause any damage but if you really want to get it out, you need to flush his eye. Use cooled boiled water and try to drop some water in his eye, try absorbing it into a face cloth and squeezing out a bit at a time or if you have a baby bottle that has a nipple that only lets a drop come out, you can use that.

My son had an eyelash in his eye yesterday, I got it out by wiping his eye with some cotton wool and cooled boiled water.

lol, no. if any damage is done it will be slight damage!! very slight damage like scratching something, but its a piece of hair! It will come out, just leave it alone! when his eyes water up the tears will eventually push it out!!

The hair could scratch your sons' eye. If you can't get it out, take him to the doctors. They will be able to remove it for you. Thank you and good luck.
