I am taking a course on line to become a medical transcriptionist and i need to know what kind of transcriber to purchase. Do doctors generally use regular cassette tapes or the micro tapes. Do they make transcribers that use both? Where can i purchase one of these at a reasonable price?

I am also training for a career as an MT. The text in the course should give you that info. I think the most widely used are the cassette transcribers. You can also use a remote access transc. or a wav player. You should be able to purchase one online. Just doa search on google and your course study should have some type of student forum/chatroom where you can find info. Prices range from about $50 to $1000. Also you might want to research MT companies. Some will provide one when they hire you.
