That would depend of just what you mean by "yesteryear"
Me...I'm Partial to Film Noir and certain actors/actress of "yesteryear" as you put it....
Although I have to admit that MOST movies of the last, oh 15, maybe even 20 years have just been re-makes & sometimes even re-makes of re-makes....If its not blood & guts, there is generally hardly anything that it too original.....
Example ~ You've Got Mail was a re-make of a Movie that James Stewart & Jean Arthur did called "The Shop Around the Corner" only updated....
Hitchcock was a GENIOUS pure & simple from begining to end....
I would suggest that if you are really interested in movies look at TCM's library & guild ~ they will often tell you manything about the film that might peek your interest...

I just finished watching Black Hawk Down on DVD. The movie was incredible - one of my favorite war movies. There weren't plenty of extras - just "On the Set" lasting 24 minutes, but it was a good extra.
Also MI:3 was pretty good as well.

I like "Heat" a lot. Long but good. Another one of my favorites, (which isn't really a movie but a documentary), is "Down the Rabbit Hole". Really good about alternate realities and metaphysics. My favorite funny movie is "Cable Guy".
