Jenny referenced a girl she hated and called her a "vagina Wig"

Is this just a word used to make fun of her, or is there more to this term?

K.. I have not seen episode 4... so dont make any references to a basketball game which I'm assuming is in the next episode. I dont want to ruin anything

Just besides what it means... when you say it to someone... I also wanted to know what it actually came from when I read your question :-)
I found some explaination when looking on Wikipedia (http://www.wikipedia.com) looking for the word Merkin.

A mock merkin is a pubic wig, worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia to eliminate lice or to disguise the marks of syphilis. There are many different ways of wearing a merkin, although most involve placing the merkin on the vulva or the scrotum.

Jenny was insulting a journalist from Curve magazine who did an interview and review on her and her book.The journalist was named Stacy Merkin.Jenny says to the receptionist of Stacy that Merkin means "vagina wig".She was using it as an insult on her because she gave Jenny a bad review in the magazine.

First off, yes we ALL know that Jenny isnuts. But I, for one, LOVE her character. She is a writer. Most writers/creative souls are a little wacko. Most literary genius were crazy as hell! Her character is almost the most believeable out of all of them.
Okay. Vagina wig is an insult/slur that pretty much means "Fake lesbian" It means you are a woman who poses as a lesbian to get "in" the circle for her own personal reasons. In this case, it was used to get Jenny to open up & expose herself to the critic.

Jenny's character is wacko! We all know this, why even try to make sense of her rants?
She was just screaming anything that came to mind.
But as far as Tina's treatment at the basketball game, it was DESERVED...that traitor. "I just see 'lesbian' as a political statement." What utter drivel! She's no more lesbian than George Bush!

Just an insult. Jenny's a nut, so don't try to make too much sens eof what she says especially in the scenes where she's upset.
BUT, what was up with how Tina was treated at the basketball game? That was f*cked up!
