Also, it will be behiend glass so as much as I think something interactive would be cool, it won't really work.

You might try a collection of different clocks. Old ,new, really interesting looking clocks, hour glasses, timers... just to get the FAST response down with maybe some kind of red beckground, you could just borrow them from people you know so that it doesn't cost anything.

See what you think of this:
HEY TEAM!
Our Goal Is To Make It To The Finish Line By:
Responding to call lights
Estimating time of wait
Service with a smile
Phone should ring no more than 3 times
O
N
D

You would have to come out with the O, N, D part of it. That shouldn't be too hard. It doesn't have to be perfection.
You could make the descending letters 'respond' big, and use the right side of the poster or display to kind of describe what each line means. So for R, you would put something like, "respond to call lights promptly". Or something like that.
As far as graphics or pictures you could have Doctors and Nurses and others who work there with big tennis shoes on in sort of a sports team look. With big smiles on their faces.
Depending on what your work atmosphere is like, this may or may not be kind of juvenile. But any place needs more fun, humor, and teamwork.

You could take a collection of art made by patients and staff and form a collage effect showing different stages of the "response" system.

OR

Honor staff of all levels in unique ways (picture/art/pretty frame, printed award, etc...) You could put that EMT who saved that elderly person's life by being "quick to respond" or how a secretary caught a discrepancy and warned her supervisor's (a.k.a. response... This could also be changed monthly, weekly or even as the shifts change!

Much too often staff feels unappreciated and this would be able to show appreciation without it becoming competitive between coworkers.

And not only are you letting the staff know what a good job they do every day (thus making it FUN to go to work) but you are also showing a friendly atmosphere showcasing the medical profession in which future employees will see upon a visit.
So your encouraging kids to get medical degrees in the growing and certainly never ending Field AND your thanking your staff!

A pair of very dark sunglasses, ear plugs, gloves or hand cuffs, and duct tape( for the mouth) maybe a manikin's head or wig head. Some type of caption saying "How would you like to wear these when trying to ask for help?" That's what our customers experience when you leave them hanging on the other end of the phone. A large faced clock. "Close your eyes and guess how much time has gone by" they will typically guess a lot longer than reality. Just like customers waiting for a response.

Think charts and graphs. Every bland subject becomes more personal with charts. For example show a chart with the average rings it takes to answer at certain times of the day. (youmay need to do a little research) This will make people feel that they are on the hot seat, and they will pay attention

A good point would be to focus on the fact that an unanswered call light is the first step to a sentinal event. Personally, It is often the patient's only way to communicate with their nurses. Here's a good title: "IGNORING A CALL LIGHT IS IGNORING A PATIENT"

I can think of having a balloon or two (inflated) or maybe a cooking timer. Seperating into groups and bouncing the balloon on their heads or passing the timer around. Each time the balloon/timer comes around to somebody in the circle, they have to mention something that has to do with time, customer svc, or responding to concerns, etc. Whoever cannot think of something on time before the balloon bounces on their head or the timer goes off looses and is removed from the circle. Maybe you can display rules or your company's SKA (skills, knowledge and abilities) or your dep't/company's credo and have your employees memorize them for this fun game. For example,
1st person (in the middle of the circle) bounces the balloon on her head and says the first line "We continually seek"
2nd person (right of 1st person) "your ideas"
3rd person (right of 2nd) "and suggestions"
4th person "for improvements"
5th "and for new products"
6th "and services"
7th "that will help" and so forth.

Or you can also have two posterboards/large pieces of paper on the wall, preferable across the room from each other. On one board, you can write general dep't issues, such as customer svc, telephone, etc. Glue velcro patches on them (see your local craft store)On the other, with velcro as well or you can just hand them the smaller pieces, write the detail or specifics of the job, such as "3 rings", "call light" or whatever you do at your job. This second board will have the most items on it. The game is to remove one item at a time from the second board and place it on the 1st board under the respective catagory. The employee that has the best time wins. If you're the dept' head or lead, consider purchasing a gift card for Starbucks or blockbuster or take them out for a lunch. The second place winner can either win a bag of microwave popcorn or a company coffee mug/thermos (your hr person may be able to supply the mug).

Another idea, seperate into two groups and have the group identify a captain. Give each team a pile of balloons (place them in an area maybe 20 meters away from the group). Each balloon will have a small piece of paper inside it with part of your cust svc goals/dep't credo. How it is played:At your signal, each cpt. will race towards the pile of balloons and one at a time will bring a balloon to each member of his/her team. Once each member has a balloon, each player pops their balloon and reads their part of the credo to themselves and places themselves in the correct order. Once the cpt reads out loud the company credo their tems wins.

Show the back end of an ambulance but have a swat team or WW2 soldiers jumping out the back instead. They should have the cross symbol on their outfit somewhere...and have lots of guns.

Bold colors and lots of patterns. Make the important information stand out and try funny cartoons or pictures relating to the topic.
