Not only my car, but whenever I get out of any car, when I go to close the door, I have to touch the frame with my forearm to avoid the shock to my hand.. It used to be kind of humerous, but now it is really frustrating... Any ideas?

It's your clothes! The material you're wearing is creating static, and that's what's causing the shocks. Try wearing different materials and see what works for you :-)

Happens to me all the time, too. The only suggestion I have is this--I grab the metal frame with my hand BEFORE I start to get out and keep a grip on metal until I am out on the ground. Somehow, it works most of the time. My friend suggested rubbing a dryer sheet across the car seat to stop the static electricity.....

After I open the door I place my thumb on the large bolt head that holds the latch in place and press firmly and hold it there before and during my exit. This discharges the static as it is produced. Look for something bare metal that is attached to the metal structure of the car and hold your hand on it before and during your exit.

Quit wearing sweaters! Static shock is caused by rubbing electrons onto or off of a surface. The static buildup on your hand is probably from rubbing it on something you wear.

Have you tried "Static Guard" spray?, spray the carpet and upholstery in your car, and I think you can spray your clothes, or try rubbing dryer sheets on your car seat.

You may find this shocking, but I think you have an electric personality.
