The 1857 1/2 dime had a mintage of 7,280,000. That is the highest mintage of the variety 2 ( 1838-1853 & 1856-1859) half dime. So it is not a scarce date. In grade good (liberty on shield smooth, date and other letters readable) value $11.00. Grade very good (at least three letters in liberty show) $16.00. Grade fine (entire liberty visable weak spots in it) $42.00. The value goes up from there if in higer grades. The above values are about what a coin dealer would pay.
