It depends.

If it is rational discourse on the direction the country should take, the goals we need to target, and the means to achieve them, then it's what is necessary.

Unfortunately, such rational discourse is all but absent on yahoo. Calling Bush a liar, a Nazi, a dictator, a chimp, an oil puppet, is not criticism - it's name-calling. Very childish.

Also, when in the midst of a war you fabricate disparaging reasons for why we went to war (for oil, to avenge daddy, war-mongering crusader, etc), you distort the truth about what's happening (650,000 dead Iraqis, Gitmo as "concentration camp" or "gulag", "torture", etc) and you deliberately ignore the good that has been done or the nature of the enemy, that goes beyond "criticism" - it is nearly traitorous, and it has caused harm to the US.

That's how I see it.

I am not a President Bush supporter. But that doesn't matter.

But this might help.

" A patriot is one that fights for his country. A traitor is one that fights for his government" .

There is a big difference.

That is why we have a vote. We have the choice to decide which government we have. We don't have a choice of which country we have.

It truly is Un-Patriotic NOT to object if you feel that your government does not represent your beliefs.

No, this is what makes our Country what it is. You don't have to worry about "losing your head" if you speak out. And our President will tell you the same as he continues to protect our right to do so.

Criticize? No. Unfairly bash, and promote hate towards, yes.

everyone has a right to their opinions but I resent it when people stoop so low as to refer to our president in disrespectful words.
Meanness is never a good thing!

They can criticize all they want..
but when they get ruthless and downright dirty it just shows their intelligence level.
