The Constitution says that Congress shall delcare war. It doesn't say that Congress can give the President the authority to declare war. Have all of those who voted for the war powers act violated the Constitution? When politicians say that they wouldn't have voted to give authority to Bush if they knew then what they know now, is that really an excuse? The Constitution is now what it was then. Shouldn't the fact that they all violated the Constitution be the issue?

The Constitution has been taken apart, meaning that what ever suits the situation they will amend the amendment.
This situation looks more and more like dictatorship, it started when electoral votes mean more than the people votes. So as the constitution said FOR THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE need I say anything more.

There have in basic terms been 5 declared wars in US history, so there is numerous priority for the President and Congress to authorize protection tension tension without asserting warfare. including protection tension action taken by potential of a number of the founding fathers whilst they have been president, including Adams and Jefferson getting Congress to authorize the acquisition and use of naval vessels against the Barbary Pirates. So, i do no longer see there being a concern, as long as Congress is in touch and provides its approval to apply protection tension tension and the investment to accomplish that.

The war powers act would suppercede the Constistion that's why they did it. Yeah it's an excuse, can you say back peddle? They also have the power to stop the war by not funding it, but they don't have the guts to do it.

NO! I think bush should go to congress and ask for a declaration of war on Iran and what ever group he wants to fight. No one can say he's doing anything illegal them.

i urge people to email the white house with this message.
