Are all of your clothes numbered with your prison id? How often do you get to change your underwear and socks? Do the inmates do the clothes washing?
I don't plan on going to Prison, but you never know.

It probably differs from system to system but at my prison (where I work, NOT where I'm housed!) the inmates are allowed to have 4 pairs of underwear and socks, 2 t-shirts, 2 athletic shorts, 1 jacket, 1 pair of shoes and 2 jumpsuits at any given time. Any deviation from this allowance can result in a write up. Every three days, several inmates that work in the "clotheshouse" go from dorm to dorm and collect dirty clothes and issue clean ones (what they call a "change-out"). So no, they do not get their "own" clothes. There are no numbers on the clothes in my facility.

having just served a 2 year sentence in a state prison, i can tell you it depends on the facility. where i was they had washing machines in the dorms and you could do your own (if you could get a machine) or you could send it out to the big laundry in a state issued laundry sack. and pray you find yours when it comes back later that day. as far as changing your socks and underwear, well let me put it this way, the TWO things a prison has to is let you shower and give you your medicine. and trust me if you dont shower every day the inmates will ride you to the death, because they got some stinky people in there.

They wear numbered uniforms. The inmates do the laundry, and most of the time it is for pay. As far as how often, it's different at each facility, but the one I worked at it was every other day I believe.

Sometimes they use laundry loops as shown from www.texontowel.com They have them in multiple colors. The user can put their clothing on the loops and it has an ID tag that has a name or ID number to identify the user.

Inmates wash ther own clothes but, if you find a bieetch that wants protection then they will do laundry for you.
