I don't know about horses, but it is used in humans and other animals to prevent bug bites. It is better to give a multivitamin or B complex with it, it will work better. B vitamins are good for the nervous system and might help to calm the horse, depending on what the problem is. I have no idea what the dosage would be for a horse; and make sure it is in a form that is readily absorbed by a grass-eating animal. Vitamins in capsules should be readily absorbed by any digestive system.
For that matter, you could probably get the same results by adding nutritional yeast to the horse's food; lots of people use this for their B vitamins, and it should be fine for a horse. The horse might like it.
