i feel for your daughter the worry must be horrible. i went over due with 3 of my 4 babies and my last 1 the doctor did agree to induce me on her due date ( i changed my mind ) but not 1 day sooner.
the antenatal care she will get if she goes over will be fantastic they will not put her or her baby at risk BUT saying that get her to have a word with her midwife they may arrange something for her.
good luck
try to keep her relaxed x x x x

Due dates are just a calculator from your last menstrual period and approximate the dates of conception. Usually around the 5th month (20 weeks) an in-depth ultrasound is performed where they measure the circumferance of the head, torso, and the femur bone - and calculate a more accurate due date based on the measurements. (They tend to be very close to the due date calculated by the LMP.)

If she doesn't want to know a due date how will you know if she is overdue? My son was 5 days late and he was a little larger than expected but was completely healthy. Doctors will not let an expectant mother go 2 weeks past her due date typically.

Not knowing when to expect sounds riskier than not knowing the due date.

You can request the baby be delivered before the due date, but the doctor probably won't go more than a week before. I was induced the day before my due date w/ my first baby and everything went fine. Just have her express her concerns w/ her doctor.

Most doctors have to wait until at least the due date to induce unless they have another medical reason. I have been 12 days over, 8 days over, and 4 days over and all my children are perfect.

But, once she is at her due date, she can probably request having the NST (non-stress tests done) where they will do the quick u/s to check the baby and the fluid level and all. I had them done ever 2-3 days once overdue.

It depends on your Dr. and your situation. If your showing signs of stress they may take your baby early. If everything is going just well they may have her wait. Keep in mind due dates are just estimates. They aren't always exact. She should let her baby come when it's ready. You don't want a baby to come to early. If your daughter is really scared ask to have extra ultra-sounds done throughout. I just had a baby three months ago. I was a week over and they did an ultra-Saudi my last two weeks. They tested everything to make sure he had a enough and let him come on his own. Just pray and everything will be OK

It all depends on if she and the baby are healthy. Your daughter can tell her doctor that she wants to be induced on her due date, but most of the time, unless there is something wrong health-wise with the baby or the mother, doctors want you to carry the baby as long as possible.

That girl's baby did not die because she went over the due date. It died from something else. A due date is a educated guess of when the baby is due, not an exact science. I went two weeks over with all three of mine, and it happens all the time! You daughter needs to get over her fears and find out the facts of the other baby's death! It's always BEST for them to come when they come without interference!

theres no way to say that going over is what killed the baby . women have gone over has far as two weeks and been fine. have her talk to her doctor. most doctors like to let baby come when its ready
