I often wondered that too, I hate making little runs all over with many stops, I call it "ramming around". I asked my mechanic about that and he said it won't hurt the car, what's worse is in cold weather not letting the car get up to operating temperature. So when I go to grab lunch, I take my 2nd key so I can leave the car runninig and lock the door.
But no, starting your car several times a day won't hurt it:)

Not really as long as a car is brought up to full operating temp before shutting off again. Might build extra condensation in the exhaust and prmaturely rust out the muffler but this is about it.

The more times you start a car , the shorter the starter life. I wouldnt worry though. Delivery drivers start their vehicles 10-30 times a day; or more.

yes. short trips are Much harder on cars than long ones. it usually takes 5-10 min for a care to reach proper operating temperature. when the car is below temp, the fluids aren't able to do their job properly. try walking to kill time.

It's not "loose" Tyrone. Your clutch hydraulics are failing. Soon it will be undriveable. Get to a shop and forget your description. Just tell 'em is not going into gear correctly. Whew!

Not unless you are pumping it with nitrous from the trunk and hot rodding around the streets with a portable meth lab in your trunk. If this isn't the case then you should be fine man.
