In light of this response to one of my questions:

---------------------------------------------------------
"Your question makes it seem like you think there is something bad about being a Garden Gnome.... I mean, if you're turning Humans into Gnomes as a punishment, it just gives me the feeling that you think there's something wrong with being a Gnome... This kind of hurts my feelings.

Maybe if you knew more about Gnomekind you wouldn't feel this way. I'd like to invite you to learn more about us, and maybe become one of our Human friends. You can visit us on the web, we have our own website and everything."

Thanks for being a good Human friend!

There is actually a book which was written by Humans who were turned into Gnomes in order to study us in our natural surroundings. This is the only Human-documented account of this process which is widely available to Humans that we know of.

Secrets of the Gnomes
by Rien Poortvliet (Photographer), Wil Huygen

About this title: An account of the life and work of gnomes, based on first-hand observations by the author and artist, who, themselves turned into gnomes, visited with gnomes in Lapland and Siberia.

Here is a link that can help you find a copy of this book at your local library:
