i've noticed that it's ok for a girl to dress like a boy but if a boy wants to wear a skirt it's different. why is that though? is it because our society still favors men?

I do agree that women have a wider fashion selection but still men make more money than women not to mention that we've never even had a female president( hopefully that'll change soon)

Maybe because women fought so hard for the right to wear pants. It seems jeans, tshirts, baseballs caps, etc have become pretty unisex, so unless a woman is wearing a fake beard, it's pretty hard to say that she is dressing like a man. With a skirt and makeup, it is so obviously not unisex that it stands out.
Although, does anyone remember a few years back when the fashion designers were trying to have skirts on men? It never took off. :)

That's a strange conclusion: "is it because our society still favors men?" Women get a wider fashion choice and men are favored?
Our society (American) still traces much of it's mores to the puritans. This is likely to be only reason.

i have been dressing like a girl for many years. i don't see the problem with it but i have gotten into trouble for it a few time. yes, society does favor men. men are stronger, smarter, and are the reason for most of the problems on this planet. if it was not for men we would not have cars, space program, or Disney World. Don't get me started on a woman president. this country can not afford that.

The short answer is: yes. It's because society still favors men. I could explain how that works, but you seem to get it already.

It's a cultural thing. No one looks twice at a man wearing a kilt in Scotland (ok the tourists look) or a sarong in the Philippines

just like people think its ok for a women to make out with women(which it is) and its wrong for two men to make out (eww) . .lol. . .I think its ok if they want to dress like women, look at all the clothes we get to choose from. . we definetly have more options then men..
