Life is good could mean things are going well right now...
Life was good could be the prequel to "Then x happened..." but it wouldn't describe a current situation...

Both usages are correct, depending upon what the writer wants to convey. Life was good refers to an experience of the past, such as 'His life was good till he had a fracture'. Life is good connotes a present situation, such as 'Now my life is good,after I inherited half a million dollars from my late uncle'.

Hmm...I am no expert but I am thinking that although "life is good" is a popular catch phrase (not to mention clothing label) it may also be correct, based on the message you are trying to send.
Life can be good. Life is good. Living is good. "Life was good," sounds like a recollection. "Is"="to be"
Of course, I am assuming you are asking about the grammar of the words.
