Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto in 1930 at the Lowell Observatory. He discovered it by accident when he noticed an object moving on the plates of a blink comparator. This is a machine that shows one photographic plate then another in the same place so you can see from plate to plate whether anything has moved.

Clyde Tombaugh - it wasn't an accident, he was looking for it. That's why he was using a blink comparator.

Astrologers of the old days. They knew about it before the others said that they "discovered" it, even though it existed long before.
