Try anything from Green Day's Dookie album, its so easy to learn apparently. Also Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes, again quite easy

Basket Case by Green Day is a pretty easy song to learn, and that's coming from me, quite possibly the worst guitarist in the world.

Just play along to songs you like. Try picking out bass notes at first, then try chords. Just make sure your guitar is tuned properly. I tried learning the intro to "One" by Metallica when i started. After i thought i nailed it, i learned how to tune the guitar and had to re-learn the intro all over again.

Find any song you like n try to get the basic rhythm chords for it . this help you develop an ear for the particular chords . you can go for lead playing after you get a hang of it.
begginers find it easy to start off wit soft rock stuff .
