take advantage of the situation.
theres nothing people are more interested in than a person who sticks out as a daring party animal, your overdressed, your dancing wild and your the centre of attention! you'll have twice as more fun when people want to talk to you cuz your different

behave absolutely normal. Smile a lot and do some deep breathing and feel at ease. Act absolutely cool. hey, even mention to the guests that you are over dressed for the occasion that should start a conversation.
When an invite comes for a party and there is no dress code mentioned, one should ideally do some research before going in or ask the host what the dress code is.

If I was dressed more formal than the occasion called for, I would probably go to the bathroom and remove some jewlery. For instance if I was wearing a necklace, earrings, bracelet and a ring, I'd probably take off the more formal or flashy of the jewelry and keep one piece. If I showed up to a function in a business suit and the occasion was more casual, I'd take off the suit jacket and put my purse or briefcase under the table so I wouldn't look so "businesslike". In addition I would also check my makeup and tone down or take off my lipstick and change to lip gloss.
However I do think that it is better to be overdressed than underdressed, you can always say that you have another function to go to that you had to dress up for, or you can say that you just came from a more formal event. Or you can just enjoy the compliments if anyone comments!

For girls, they can slip off some expensive nick necks- shawl. Put it safely in the purse.
For men take the tie or bow tie off and put it in the pocket, still uncomfortable take the jacket off and leave it in a corner on a chair.
Next roll up sleeves, ruffled up the socks.
This is a must if host makes any comment to the situation.

Depending on the degree of overdress, I would try to rectify it. If it was just removing a tie and jacket, that's simple, if it a situation where everyone else is wearing jeans and "T" shirts, Then that may be a problem.

I purposely over-dress. I like to look and feel good, and that usually means going all out. I love finding a perfect dress, matching shoes, purse, jacket, accessories, getting my hair done, perfecting my make-up. It makes me feel like a girl! It doesn't matter to me what other people are wearing--I dress for me and let them dress for them.

An overdose of alcohol may cause sweating and nausea, a feel of being over-dressed.Take some time off the glass.

Nothing !!!!!!!!!! Just behave normal --- cause yr idea of being overdresed might not be the one of the others present at that given situation. So relax !!!!!!!!! & enjoy the party.

If it's possible I'd take off a couple of items to make myself more casual. And maybe take down my hair. But if not just be confident and pretend everything was intentional, with that you can rock anything.
