Yes, you need to contact the California state dept. of revenue and find out how to go about it. You should get a w-2 from your old place of employment which you'll need for filing taxes in CA and for the federal return.
Also, just because where you live doesn't have a state sales tax, that doesn't mean you don't have to pay taxes there. I'm from Montana originally and no state sale tax there, but we still had to file the state taxes with the federal. Check with the state dept. of Revenue where you live now to find out for sure if you need to file, etc.

If you are referring to state income taxes, the you do have to file if you lived in California for longer then 30 Days of that year before you relocated. If not you could face penalty charges for trying to evade taxes. Consequently the following year of course you will no longer have to file as a resident of California. Good luck in Washington, Nevada, or the few other states you could have moved too... :-)

If you had money withheld by California it's to your advantage to file, as you may get some or all of your money back.
And, just think! Next year you will join the ranks of those lucky people who don't HAVE state income taxes to mess with.

Yes, you will file California non-resident taxes. Get Turbo Tax, it tells you all that you need to do.
