ob/gyn...u might have pcos

However, your first step is to see a doctor about this. A gyno is a good start however an endocronogist is better choice since they are trained to deal with hormones. A good gyno will refer you to an endo. Also try taking this quiz from PCOS Support, http://www.pcosupport.org/support/quiz.p... and take it to your doctor. Also spend time browsing the site and look for others for all the information you can get. Knowledge is power with PCOS, alot of the time doctors do not know about it.

If you don't have a lot of money to be going back and forth to the doctor's are you even sure that you are ready to have a child?
You absolutely need to see a doctor if you want to understand why you have not had menstruated in one year. An OB/GYN (obstetrician/gynecologist) is where you should start and they can tell you if you need a specialist to understand if there is something not normal with your hormones or ovulation.

I would probably need more details to answer this appropriately.

-How old are you? If you are over 34, I'd say go to a fertility specialist. You may need to go on a drug that induces ovulation.

-How healthy are you? Are you overweight? You need to be healthy in order to ovulate. If you need to lose weight, do it. Some women can lose 20 pounds and suddenly become fertile again after years of trying to conceive. The quickest way to lose weight is to cut out sugar entirely. Don't eat any sweets at all. Eat a lot of veggies.

-Do you have pain in your ovaries? You could have endometriosis or PCOS. To find that out you would have to see a doctor, who could listen to your symptoms and perhaps do an ultrasound to see if you have cysts anywhere.

-Do you exercise a lot? Do you have an eating disorder? There are lots of factors that could play into a lack of periods. It all depends on you. Professional female athletes often lose their periods. Women with severe bulimia or anorexia often lose theirs as well.

Your best option would be to get as healthy as possible. See an OB-GYN first for your initial diagnosis. You may be referred to a fertility specialist. Fertility specialists are pretty expensive, though, so just do research into your diagnosis on the internet and in books first. Maybe there would be some natural remedies for you to try before seeing a specialist.

If your are alittle overweight that can stop your cycles. I tried for a year and had already had three children with no problem. But when i gained alittle weight my cycles had stopped for almost a year. Then i went to and got my progestrone level checked. and then went to a encroligist i am spelling it wrong it is a reproductive they help more than a fertitly specialist because they check all of your glands and know what hormones are not working i would also suggest going on a no carb diet cut out sugar. It worked for me and i am expecting in july bless you and good luck. It could be pcos

Unfortunatly If you have been trying for a year you are considered not fertile.
You need to see a ob/gyn you may be having a serious problem not having a period for so long. Take care of yourself before worrying about baby.
There are other options if you find you are unable to concieve I hope everything goes ok for you!
~~~Go see a Doctor~~
We tried for about 5 years to have ababy. My periods came about twice a year so that added to the problem. The doctor recommeded a Rx...can't recall the name of it right now, but I know it is about $100 a dose and not covered by health plans. It helps you to get your period. I would see a doctor about the periods for sure as that may be the problem. We kinda gave up and a year later, I was pregnant. I couldn't afford the meds either, it was just timing for us. If you are not having a period, you can't get pregnant as you are not ovulating.
If you havent had a menstruation for a year now definitely you have to see a doctor (gynecologist). Missing your period could be the result of a lot of problems likes: no ovulation, hormonal problems and for sure that is making it difficult for you to conceive. Make an appointment and make sure everything is fine with your reproductive system.
