Learn how to draw pictures of the problems. For example, if you can draw a right triangle with angle theta, and label all the parts, you know everything you need to know for basic sine, cosine, and tangent problems.

Pictures and diagrams are the key to success in most math classes, as visualization is the most important step towards understanding.

You should get very familiar with what all trig functions (sin, cos, tan, etc.), do and all of their identities. If you need help, I would say to get the help of a tutor that way they can spend more time focusing on what you are having trouble with and get rid of the problems. Also, if you need help on any problem, you can come here and you will probably get a couple of good explanations on how to solve it. Good luck in your class.

memorize your angle evaluations and, at least for me, it helps to think about cosine and sine in terms of being the x and y coordinates respectively on the unit circle (x^2 + y^2= 1). Then, the basic identity follows pretty easily.
