I have lived in places I hated but had no choice about living there, I guess you just have to make the best of it. Make the inside of your house the way you want it to be, so it's a refuge from the outside world. When you want to spend time outdoors, go someplace else like a park or lake. Or if you have a choice and can afford it, then move again.

If you own the house, work on fixing it up yourself, our house is a "fixer upper" and we're still working on it after 20 years! (Low budget, no time.)

If you live in an apartment, speak to your neighbors and see if you can work it out. Otherwise, speak to the landlord, who should also help out with maintenance issues.

I do sympathize about bad living situations. One time I even broke my lease and left while my roommate was out of town, borrowed my friend's truck, packed up and left the key in the mailbox. I just had to get out of there, she was a crazy woman!

Good luck to you.

Yes, I moved into a new apartment in the summer after living in a 2 bedroom house. Seemed like a good idea at the time but since realised that wooden floors in apartments don't work. I can hear my upstairs neighbour whatever room they are in. I even know their toilet habits (strange, they normally go about now...hope they are ok). Can't really complain. What should I say "learn to levitate"
There's always people moving in and out too, and the new ones often think it's ok to play loud music in the middle of the night until loads of us complain. That's why I'm up now. The management co. are pretty good about putting a stop to it, but it's annoying.
Oh yes, had my car broken into 3 times just before Christmas. So, I'll probably be getting the hell out of Dodge when the lease runs out in August.

I looked at this tiny bungalow in essex england and bought it, it was a bloody nightmare, when all my furniture was put in there was no room for even a small coffe table, I had to go outside to change my mind it was that small, now I am in a lovely 3 bedroom house.

I moved into an apartment where the owner was a disgusting, alcoholic slob in her 50s, that was always trying to get me to hump her, doing me "favors" like coming into my apartment and de-icing the ice box. I didnt even worry about my deposit, i just got the hell out of dodge.

yes, moved from one area to across town, and it looked really nice during the day but then at night, it was awful, drugs etc, i moved again after 18 mths, and have not regretted it at all. although i made friends with an elderly neighbour across the road, and my children had a nan for 18 mths, until she died, but she gave so much to my children, not in material sense, but in love and attention, and was a lovely friend to me, and all of us well never forget her.
