It is my favorite city on Earth! I'd like to live out there!
I have watched dozens of the episodes but never found it out...

The short answer is that Springfield does not exist. It doesn't have a real state, and the fact that it has no state is nothing more than a running gag. Springfield is more like "Anytown, USA". It's as if all of America was compressed into a single town, or a single state. Springfield is everywhere and nowhere.

The Simpson's "Springfield" is not a real city or town. In some of the episodes it's implied as a small one horse town. In other episodes it's implied as a giant metropolis like New York. If you paid any attention to some of these episodes you'd know this.

It's never been mentioned in any Simpsons show at least to my knowledge.
They almost show what state Springfield was in. It's the only episode I can think of - when Apu was getting his citizenship(I think that was the episode).

there is a city called springfield in Illinois. just in case ur some blonde chik though, im gonna have to tell u that its not gonna be EXACTLY like the springfield they have on The Simpsons.
