Why don't you ask your Doctor. I think it might vary with different women. I wouldn't recommend having sex 40 days after a C-section because you could split open the stitches. I have heard from friends it takes time for you to heal. Not to mention your belly is very tender.

I had a c-section and waited 8 weeks to have sex. A c-section is major surgery and can be a difficult thing to get over. You may find that you aren't really interested in having sex right away. Your body is still recovering and you have a new life to take care of on top of it all.
I would discuss this with your doctor after you have had the procedure. Mine told me a minimum of 6 weeks.

I don't know... but i'm sure it won't be comfortable to do it any sooner. Remember even if your breastfeeding to use protection though. It's a MYTH that breastfeeding is a form of contreception, it does not stop you from ovulating. Your body will be in shock a bit after delivery, C section or not, so you may not ovulate for a bit, but there is no set time for when it will or will not happen and you are fertile 2 weeks before your first regular period so there's no way to know! Sorry not to preach, but too many woman getting pregnant right after their babies are born and are left stunned because they actually thought breastfeeding would keep them infertile! It's 100x more dangerous to get pregnant right away if you've had a C section. Please be safe.

I was told by my doctor to wait 4-6 weeks and she also told me that it might be uncomfortable for a little while so she said whenever I felt up to it to go for it but not before the four week marker. We did try once I hit the four week marker and let me tell you it wasn't the area where the c-section was performed it was just painful vaginally it was not pleasant it actually made me cry. But I had attempted to push for 5 hours before my c-section so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Yes, I had a c-section and my doc told me to wait 6 weeks. I think it's because the uterus and cervix need time to go back to their normal state, regardless of whether you had the baby vaginally or via c-section.

I was told you have to wait until you stop bleeding before having sex after delivering a baby either way! You still have a month... Ask your doctor or midwife for sure!!

i was told no sex for 6 weeks or until i had my postpartum check up which was exactly 6 weeks. yes you need to wait. your body has been through a trauma and needs to heal. and a c-section is surgery so it may take longer to heal
