I found out at 9 weeks and my sister at 12 weeks (but she lost one of hers.) If all your measurements are average and you have already had a scan that showed only one, it's probably pretty safe to say there is only one.

I found out I was having twins when I was 9 weeks pregnant. I now how 3 year old beautiful girls! Apparently as many as 1 in 7 women conceive twins but one is not viable and is absorbed into the lining of the womb or the placenta of the surviving twin. A girl who I work with, her husband is a twin and his mother did not know she was having twins until she gave birth! He was a tiny little thing and was hidden behind his much bigger sister during the scan. The possibility of having a twin pregnancy missed is very small with today's modern technology and many check ups you have while being pregnant. Relax and enjoy!

I miscarried a twin at 12 weeks and I didn't even know I was pregnant w/ twins. They did a scan at 13 weeks and told me that is what happened b/c they could see the sac the other baby was in.

I started spotting at about 8 weeks and thought I was miscarrying. We went into the Dr's office for an ultrasound. I wouldn't even look at the screen I was so upset. Then the Dr said, "Oh no, both your babies look great." So here we are with 3 mth old twin girls. Anyway, I was 8 weeks. My cousin didnt find out until she was 4 mths pregnant with triplets. But she didnt have an ultrasound until then either.

My mom was pregnant with twins, but one of the twins wasn't viable so it passed in utero, it wasn't until she started bleeding mid pregnancy and went into the hospital did they even know and she had had routine ultrasounds! That's old equipment too though, the ultrasound machines are much better now.

My twins were not suspected at all until they were detected on my u/s at 17 weeks. Had there not been concern about when I conceived, they would not have been detected until 20 weeks. They opted for an earlier u/s to double check the conception to see how far I was.

The midwives thought that I was carrying twins as I was extremely large in my 3rd pregnancy
But my pregnancy turned out to be only one baby- just a very large one!!!!
