It'd be nice if we didn't have to...but suppose someone or something threatened to take away your rights and freedoms, took away your parents because they practiced religion that opposed the governments', killed your siblings 'cause they listened to rock music or posted their opinions on a web site just like this one, killed your children for no apparent reason other than blind hate, what would you do? Would that justify your fighting? Would you kill rather than be killed yourself?
Just a little something to think about.

We'll see. There is much information building up reasons to attack Iran. Some from their president's own comments and information they are installing 3000 centrifuges. Others from the US government, saying they are supporting attacks on US troops. Just now NBC says Iran may have planned a raid that kidnapped some US troops last weekend. With all that, it takes determination to keep saying "No War With Iran!!!" I think the free people of the US will be divided and they have no easy way to stop an attack. But this barrage of information in even in the "liberal media" is causing some anti war people to think fighting Iran is OK, much like Afghanistan was OK. So, no, the US people are not going to stop any war before it happens.

No one (most Dem's, most republicans) do not want to see an attack against Iran. If not much is done to stop him, Bush could do this unilaterally. But if the congress stands up and takes every possible measure, makes loud statements about this, cuts off funding anywhere possible, then maybe it would prevent such an attack. People also need to protest and make their voices heard. Apathy will only allow for things to continue as they are. And that would appear to be a road towards a showdown with Iran.

Politically, the United States has already launched an attack on Iran. It, and other members of oil producing countries are driving down the price of oil. This is Iran's only meaningful revenue. They now have inflation that is out of control and massive unemployment. Hopefully the good, educated people of Iran will be able to take control of their oppressive government from within and once again enjoy freedom and a thriving economy in this troubled part of the world. Remember, the free people of the U.S. did not have to (militarily) attack the USSR to bring this communistic country to an end. There are more ways to bring freedom to others door steps without sending in the troops... although sometimes this action is called for.

first go read the history of WW2 in detail, concentrate on when the war really started, Japan invading Manchuria in 1932, not Hitler and Poland.
Read about how the league of nations was incapable of stopping anything even though they passed resolution after resolution.
Try though you might to twist this analogy to make America the bad guy for invading Iraq, the opposite is in fact true:
The US was ENFORCING UN resolutions, not violating them.
Now look closely at how Iran is trying to get a nuclear weapon, it is very similar and the UN is just about as impotent as the league was.
There is good news for the US and all the US haters:
The US will not have to attack Iran over this issue, but we might have to bomb them a little if they don't get their nose out of Iraq and stop fueling the insurgency there.
If Iran gets close to a nuclear weapon Israel will destroy any such capability Iran has and will do so decisively.
Remember Israel already has approximately 100 nuclear weapons, a fully mature delivery systems and leaders who are wise enough to know that Israel is doomed if Iran gets a nuke.
They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by such a preemptive strike on Iran, so i have no doubt it will happen if Iran forces it.
By the way, the history of "peace and freedom for both countries" as you put it ended with the Islamic revolution almost 27 years ago.
There is no freedom in Iran, and even though we've tried our best just to ignore them since, there is clearly no way to have peace with Iran until that brutal, totalitarian regime is changed.
I for one hope the people of Iran will come to their senses and over throw their own government before their government brings destruction on them, but my hope grows dimmer by the day.

We don't have a choice. The most we can do is elect leaders that won't attack Iran. After that, we can throw a fit until they pull out. I don't think it's going to happen though, it's a lot of talk and hot air for now.
I have a question for Iranians: are you going to allow your government to put you at odds with the US and Israel? Do you support those measures? Do you believe the holocaust never happened, and that Israel should be wiped off the map? Do you believe your country needs nuclear weapons?

I think the situation is being handled correctly. We should not attack/ invade Iran unless they make it necessary. If they keep sending explosives and insurgents to Iraq then it becomes a matter of protecting our troops so do what is required to stop them. I will let my government do it's job and if I think they are mishandling it I want run to the media so they can twist the story but instead I will write, call, email and fax my elected officials.

provided that democrats are on top of problems with the united states. lower back in 1942 the united states grew to become into attacked. The Democrats instituted a draft, declared martial regulation, suspended the form, tossed human beings into concentration camps for ethnic motives and finally used nuclear weapons. If the Democrats are on top of issues and the united states undergoes yet another attack similar to 9-11 I anticipate the comparable issues will ensue lower back, only worse. Thank God the Republicans have been on top of issues in 2001 and the reaction grew to become into constrained whilst in comparison with that of the Democrats below comparable situations.

Conservatives are on a bent these days that starting wars will bring peace in the long run. Any 3 year old can tell you this is not the case. I do not rule out military action and/or military solutions, and the GOVERNMENT of Iran is even madder than our own, but no, I do not think that America would tolerate sparking another war. We would riot in the streets if our beloved administrator attempted to undersell our future that much more. Iran needs to be stopped from its attempts to gain influence in Iraq, but we don't have the resources to go to war with Iceland right now, let alone Iran and its allies.
I wish it were like it was in the 40s, when the conservatives wanted nothing to do with war, and liberal progressives wanted us to help poor France and Britain.
