Why is it so hard for some to see what is really going on in the world? Do they not realize that we truly are in danger?

I honestly believe that their hatred for our President and republicans is so profound that they cannot see what is happening. Do some of you not realize that we need to fight against terrorists? Do you think we can negotiate with them? Well, history has proven that they cannot be negotiated with. Are some of you not afraid of what might become if we tuck in our tails and give in?

Oh dear dear huck, our current President is doing a lot to help this Country. The immigration policy is horrible and not only the President but all of our elected officials should stop this. We as Americans need to start electing people that will not appease to terrorists or other ILLEGAL entities that seek to destroy our country. So, go bark up a tree, not at me. I am FOR sealing our borders but I do have to give credit to our President and military for keeping us safe so far. Sadly some of you are just to blind to see it.

actually willow I'm not. But my family has a history in the service and my Sister is a LCDR in the Navy. She was stationed at gitmo with those evil terrorists and now is in Guam. Nothing compared to Iraq but we can't wait for the day for her to come home. We have seen her 2 times in 4 yrs. I honor all of our troops, veterans and POWs. They are all the reasons that we have our freedoms today and sadly some just don't see it.

Its a different time and place than it has ever been. We as a people are ruled by political correctness and are quick to be enraged when rights get threatened. With every war we fight we expect fewer and fewer deaths, not only for our selves but the enemy also.

We have gone so long without major terror in the world, like Hitler, that we have such a level of expectation for just how war should be waged. In the minds of many the threat will go away if we choose to ignore it or it will simply not get any worse. People forget that Germany went through a long period of harsh government and famine and lots of other extremes. Out of this internal conflict bore a major global struggle.

The World Wars didn't start over night, they were nestled deep in the everyday happenings. An attack here, a speech there, a leader rises, and so on and so on.

I agree with you, some here argue about moral grounds and refer to the borders in Mexico. How are we to secure the border and be PC about it? That's why there is little security there.
The majority of people just want the war to go away, and I wish it could but unfortunately the world is not so simple.

Heres to all the people over seas, may today be a "good" day.

Prior to providing an answer to this question I first looked at some of your responses. You got some good ones! Overall, I agree with you and especially your statement that some people's hatred for our President and the Republicans is so profound that they cannot what is happening. Except, that I think they "can see what is happening"... they just don't care. One poll indicated that some folks placed a higher respect for Saddam than our President. Once a person reaches this mentality there is no talking to em. Try to keep the fate tho cause I truly believe that most Americans know what's going on and what it is going to take to make the world safe again... at least within our own border. Speaking of which... let's get that fence built!

You cannot stop a war of religion. Period. That is what is happening right now in Iraq. What about the situation in Darfur? Do we just let that go on? There are many more important situations to be involved in besides the religious war in Iraq. Those people are happy killing eachother. Let them at it. Then when they kill each other off, we don't have to worry about them anymore. Hell, why don't we just carpetbomb the whole region with nukes, that'll fix the problem.

though I do blame Bush for a lot of things as far as the war goes but as far as the immagration thing like Huck mentioned. You don't see Bush giving them jobs and renting them houses and selling them cars. No we have no one else to blame for that. But money talks. Who ever is willing to foot the bill. Yeah come on in and destroy our future and all we worked so hard for. Its all for the taking if you got the cash. The Immagration problem is a far worse situation than terrorism. They bring crime, probably diseases, and don't have to pay taxes, but somebodys got to pay the taxes that they don't pay. Were always going to deal with terrorist from all over the world. We can't kill them all. But the real terrorist are already here, multiplying and taking over. Soon there wont be an America to fight for.

Why do you think you have the only knowledge worth having? Chicken Littles of the world learned that the sky isn't always falling, but things are always changing. You can't fight terrorists by waging war against a country that didn't attack us and wasn't home to the terrorists who did. Did you notice that? After Bushs abrogation of the Constitution (did you notice that?) we may have a much more difficult time convincing any country to negotiate with us. Tucking in out tails as you put it isn't the only choice, my solution is that we declare victory, have a party and let them fight it out. Historically, the Middle East is happy to be killing each other with or without us. My vote is without us. Showing the world that we are willing to be target practice for them and are unable to get them to stop ,killing us, is letting them know what poor leaders we have. And that scares me.
And for what seems to be the millionth time. The US did not fight for Israel, Israel fought for itself, it won, they don't care. If Iraqis fought for themselves the way Israel did I'd have more respect for them.

History has also shown that when we train people like Bin Laden on how to be a terrorist in the first place, it comes back to bite us in the rear.

Now we are training the Shea death squads under the guise of Iraqi police.

Terrorist are terrorists, being there is doing nothing but creating more terrorists.

So how in any way does creating more terrorists making the US safer.

We sure are in danger. We were attacked, and our govt's response has been to attack and occupy two countries instead of going after the terrorists. Bin Laden is in Pakistan, we need to go get him, you can bet that he has spent the past 5 years plotting against us.

Wait a minute... some of us SEE what's going on but we still disagree.

I'm the daughter, grand daughter, niece, cousin, etc, of veterans of past wars and our current war.

I'm very aware of the pros and cons of fighting this battle. I'm aware of the history behind it. Are you? Are you aware of the religious history and facts that go with this war? If you are, you know that the disagreement between the different factions/nations is about MUCH more than fighting terrorists. In fact, it has very little to do with terrorism.

The reason we went over there is because some representatives of a (relatively) small organization decided to run our planes into buildings, right? Well did their actions represent the actions of the entire nation?? NO!!! Absolutely not.

There are Sunies and Shiites overseas who respect America, regardless of their faith. The idiots who caused the tragic events of 9/11 are NOT representative of the entire Middle East.

Yet we have decided, in our political "infinite wisdom" to send members of our armed forces over seas to get involved in a battle that's been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years. OUR presence is not going to make one tiny bit of a difference-- they've been fighting this cultural and land battle long before the birth of christ and they will fight it long after we leave.

YES we need to ensure that we protect our own nation.

But there is no win in this war. There is no way to say "victory." This battle has existed far too long. I'm not even sure people over there KNOW how to live in peace-time. Their entire cultures are based on fighting and dying. Our killing a few hundred insurgents will not change that. And assymalating them into our culture is just as wrong as them trying to take us into theirs.

But!!!!

Just because we disagree with you doesn't mean we're not aware of the facts or that we're uneducated. It just means we have a different opinion.

And don't forget-- ultimately that is what our countrymen are fighting for- our right to have differing opinions. :-D Embrace your right to express yourself. As I have just embraced mine!!

Typical Straw Man argument. You can't rationally defend the Chickenhawk-in-Chief and his What So Proudly We Halliburton war, so you have to paint your opponents as cowards and morons who want to let the jihadists alone--as Bush did before 9/11, and, as far as effective action goes, has been doing since 9/11.

From my mountaintop, I see cattle who have been smothered to death by a cloud of upper-class privilege. And up rides the Texxon Cowboy to turn them into hamburger patties.

How selfish of some of you!! Isn't everybody in the world deserving of the same freedom that we Americans can take for granted? We have to fight the good fight!

Peace and freedom for all who want it, for all that have fought for it and died and for every one of those soldiers in the middle east who put their lives on the line for it and to hell with the rest of you!!

GOD BLESS PRESIDENT BUSH and all the leaders who have to make the decision to send our sons, brothers and fathers into war.
