It is the study of society, culture and sub cultures, and how people interact with each other. They study how current events, trends and music influence each other. They study the differences in how the working class poor lives, and how the upper class lives and determines the cultural differences between the two, even though both classes exist in the same country.
In layman's terms, sociology is the study of society and human social interaction.
Psychology and sociology are so closely woven together that you cannot earn a degree in one or the other without a working knowledge/background on the other.
