No, and that is not the best thing to do for the child either. The child is part of you, and part of her father. When my ex and I got divorced I asked hiim if I could change our son's name to my maiden name, he said no, so I kept my married name, only for my son's sake. It makes it easier for school, etc. Please don't put your child "in the middle" between you and your ex. Take care.

nope, the only and absolute only time you can is if the father hasn't been around for years at all with no contact. you then have to present to a judge your proof as well as why you want to change the name. My husband's ex tried doing that to him with his son's, and the court house and vital statistics called us to let us know. She got in big trouble with the judge for that one!

why do you want to change her name anyway ? I mean just cause it is easier on you or something ? no leave her name the way it is cause she is a part of your ex husband .good luck
