I first learned ice skating and then learner roller skating. I'd say roller skating is harder. I find the in-line skates are harder to control even if you have a good quality skates, because the pavement is always uneven and you have to work against it. Ice is much smoother. It is much scarier to fall on the pavement than on ice - the surface is just as hard, but you also get all scratched real bad. You don't get scratched on ice. I fell on ice many times and I never cut myself with the blades - no worries about that. I'd say, go for either one. Just rent the skates or in-line skates and try both.

Seriously, if you have any kind of coordination at all you will learn either in about 5 minutes. It is easier to balance on the rollerskates because of the surface contacted by the the wheels and the friction factor. Just make sure your skates are laced securely so your foot is one with the skate, and keep your knees slightly bent to lower your center of gravity. You will be fine; millions of people do it so it's not that difficult.

I believe that rollerskating is easier to learn because balance isn't required for you to learn it but balance can be gained from learning how to rollerskate. this will then help you w/ iceskating

In my opinon, roller skating is easier because when Im ice skating the fact that you could fall on cold hard ice and get yourself all cut up from blades is hard enough. Roller skating has none of those!

hope i helped

Well i first learnt rollarksating and it helped me with ice-skating a lot. If you learn rollarskating first start by doing it on flat ground, and when your confident rollarskate down small hills. However if you can ice-skate it will help you with rollarskating.

I would say rollarskating is harder..

God bless..x
