Because they are not great parents and probly wanted custody so they didn't have to pay support.

To all the people that say it's about the child support...it may be in some cases but think about what has been going on. Both parents were in a nasty battle with the kids being pulled one way then the other. A lot of kids will side with whoever they are living with against the other parent. Now the parent that is supposed to be there for visitation shows up and is seen as the enemy by both the ex and the kid. It's not right to just walk away from your kids...ever, but I do understand how it could happen without it being all about the money.

I don't know why the don't show-up, but in my experience they fight for custody to either a) not have to pay child support, b) to receive child support, or c) to punish their ex with the kids by turning the kids against them.

In the end, the losers in a custody battle is the kids because the parents are using them as pawns in their twisted little game of control over one another.

Some people can't stand losing, and punish everyone.
Other times its because they never really wanted custody in the first place, but wanted to make a big stink to reduce child support, or to hurt the other party.

My fiance is currently in a similar situation. It has NOTHING to do w/ the kids, but the other parent. Maybe you need to re-group on how the current visitation is set up and go from there to work out something that works best for everyone.

To get away with not paying child support . They obviously do it out of spite to antagonize the custodial parent .

Wow I wish I knew the answer to this one. My dad did this when I was growing up. He got all mad when my mom moved up to Idaho (from WA) to help my grandfather who was dieing at the time. He tried to press charges on her and all sorts of crazy things like that. The odd thing is when we moved back, he kept making plans to see us and never showed up. My siblings and I would just wait around for hours and he would call 4-5 hrs after he was supposed to be there. Good thing my mom won in court!!

Because it was probably about the child support they have to pay, not the child.
