If you have had the drive for some time now, there may be something wrong with the file system. If you see it in my computer but when you click on it, it says please insert the disk then you should run scandisk on it.

Before you do a scan disk make sure that the write protect tab is set to write mode (or unlocked). if your drive has a switch for password protection also make sure that the protection switch is set to off.

If all the above things are off and it still says insert disk then right click on it's drive letter in my computer and select PROPERTIES. Click on the TOOLS tab and click on the CHECK NOW button under the error checking section. On the window that appears select both check boxs and click START.

When the check is completed check if you can access the drive. If not your flash memory or the flash controller has burnt out in which case you will have to replace the drive and send your flash to a data recovery technician if there was anything important on there. If there is nothing importatn on the drive try formating it.

If it's a new flash drive then you may need to format it.
