I ended up buying some french dvds. They are obviously region 2. I live in America. Can I buy dvd players that play region 2 dvds in America? Right now I can only watch them on my desktop! Please help. These are some of my favorite movies!

yes, there are code-free DVD players available in the US (Ghandi sold them a few years ago)
try googling DVD hacks for ways to reset your DVD to region 0 using the remote.

if you download a program called DVD Decrypter you can burn copies of the DVDs without the regional restrictions....DVD Decrypter will pull off all the things that tell your computer not to make a copy of it and will also pull off regional restrictions. You will probably also need DVD Shrink to shrink all the dvd files down to the 4.7GB size that most blank discs are....i know if you have a person to person file sharing program like uTorrent (utorrent.com) you can go to this link for DVD Decrypter (http://search.utorrent.com/search.php?q=dvd%20decrypter&e=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2emininova%2eorg%2fsearch%2f%3futorrent%26search%3d&u=1)
and this like for DVD Shrink (http://search.utorrent.com/search.php?q=dvd%20shrink&e=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2emininova%2eorg%2fsearch%2f%3futorrent%26search%3d&u=1)

I use both of these programs often and they work and are very
simple and user friendly!

...and does this magic program convert the PAL video format to the NTSC that the USA uses?
'Cause if not, you'll STILL be watching them on your desktop.
