I am just about to move out of my parent's place for the first time in to my own flat, having got a job a few towns over from where they live.

Could anyone give me tips on moving out for the first time? I work for the local council so I know what to do in terms of bills. tax etc etc, but was just wondering if any of you have any helpful tips or adive on making things run smoothly.

I have been away from home for long periods whilst abroad and at Uni so himesickness isn't an issue.

My parents are obviously helping as much as they can but they're quite inform and I don't want to trouble them any more than I have to- so any pearls of wisdom you have about moving out/ settling in would be very much appreciated- what feelings did you experince when you first moved in to your own place?

Any UK- specific answers would be great but please feel free to answer otherwise!

Thanks!

yes take 7 days holiday and let someone else do it because after you have moved yourself you are literally knackered

label every box with the contents of said box so stuff is easy to find and always but the box with the kettle etc in last so it's first box out! and leave a nice card/gift to thank your parents for their help.

Tough. To move out is to die a little, we say. You are the only one to help yourself. I move from country to country, all around the world all my life, an it is never the same except that you are alone but not lonely. Good luck.
