Hi.. I really wanna get a breast reduction, I'm 21,34 waist, DD cup size, I've really been selfconciouse about my breasts since God knows when! & Ofcourse, we all know too much weight can never be friends with gravity!!

My question is, do I need to wear something medical, like a medical bra r'something after I come out of surgery? & can I take it off whenever I want??

Also, how long should I keep it on? like , how many weeks?

And, are there any risks? I mean, is this surgery dangerouse?? Because I don't wanna add anything like "fake boob bubbles" r'anything, I want a good reasonable reduction & some lift.

If you know anything about this, please share, I'd really appriciate it bcoz I'm v.worried.

Thnx alot :)

Hi there,

I am also 21, and a 12G bra size (Australia size 10-12). I am actually having breast reduction surgery in 12 weeks time to be reduced to a 12D-DD cup and after meeting with my surgeon I feel that all my questions have been answered. Some surgeons do not charge for an initial consultation. Mine cost me $120 minus the $68 rebate from Medicare if you have a doctors referral from your GP. The consultation is worth having because it gives you a better knowledge and understanding of the operation.

The surgeon ran through the whole procedure and gave me great advice. But he advised that the special after surgery bras be worn until properly healed- so probably at least a couple of months. But he also recommended to always wear "ugly, grandma bras" with full support and only wear pretty bras with not much support occasionally, like on weekends, etc.
There are always risks with surgery, but like myself, because you are young the risks are lower than normal. And because you are not an overly large size to start with the surgery should be less complicated as there will be less work done. The surgeon also told me that being younger and presumably healthy helps for a quicker recovery.

If you like you can contact me and I can give you my surgeons details and any other advice.
I hope this helps you. :)

In regards to your comment Edwin T- I lost 12 kilos last year and my breasts did not shrink- THEY GREW 2 cup sizes!! Obviously your sisters do not have breasts the size of ours, Try carrying around an extra 6.5 kilograms (that is what mine weigh) on your chest and then maybe we will listen to your comments!!

I had a breast reduction about 8 months ago. I didn't wear a surgical bra afterwards, but that depends on your surgeon. I just wore an ace bandage for a few days.

There are risks with any surgery, but mine was easy and uneventful, and I'm thrilled with the results! I think you'll be pleased too. Good luck!

Some doctors will have you in a surgical bra, but mine did not have me wear anything but the gauze that was on the incisions.

Your doctor would tell you how long for anything.

http://www.breasthealthonline.com helped me out greatly with my breast reduction. check out the breast reduction FAQ sections for some of your answers and talk to other women who have gone through and are going through it on the support board.

all surgery is risky, and you'd be doing surgery times two.
