yes, walnuts and other nuts are high in Iron, Phosphorus, Zinc & Vitamin B6, I personally took Zinc vitamins and Kelp capsules to help speed up my metabolism, because the thyroid gland makes hormones that controls metabolism. When the thyroid hormone levels are low the body doesn't produce enough heat, so the extremities tend to be cold. Cold fingers, cold toes, and cold tip of the nose are common indicators that not enough heat is being produce. In general, being colder than other people can be an indicator that one's thyroid output is insuffiecient.
Treatment: the conventional approach to hypothyroidism ususlly consist of giving a synthetic thyroid hormone. Natural thyroid hormone is more effective that the synthetic type, but more difficult to obtain. The formula Energetics may be helpful. Aerobics exercise may help to correct a low-thyroid condition.

I was able to help my mon with her thyroid problem with just natural herbs and vitamins, you can find these at any health food stores, Trader Joe's or even Longs Drugs.
The one I'm taking is called Kelp with iodine and I'm taking Enzymes caps. a little pricy but worth it.

I've never heard about walnuts being good for thyroid specifically, but I'm sure they are. They are good for the heart and digestive system. I started putting walnuts in my cereal each morning because when you are hypothyroid, constipation is a major symptom. Including walnuts in the diet can help this symptom, so in a sense I guess walnuts are good for hypothyroidism

Are you interested in walnuts because you have a thyroid problem now and you want to help the symptoms? If so, just eat healthy, exercise, stay away from soy & fluoride, keep track of your morning thyroid levels. If you are on T4, you want the morning TSH around 1.0. If you are on natural meds, you want the Free T4 midrange and Free T3 high in range.

I have put a few thyroid websites below, just in case you have more questions. I'm sure these sites can help.
