Can a commons sociopath be helped?

I have figured out that i have been dating a man with a lot of characteristics of a sociopath and falls into one of the four types which is commons. This persons lacks a conscience and will lie lie lie!!! If he were to get therapy could he be helped or is this a life time personality disorder?

There is no "fixing" a sociopath/psychopath. It is a pervasive personality disorder that you cannot rehabilitate in a person. (Therapy would probably be a means to manipulate you even further, convince you of something) Studies have shown that psychopaths eventually "outgrow" it, so to speak.

Psychopathic behavior is explained as cortical immaturity, meaning that the development of the brain is not what one would find in a normal human brain. EEG's can show marked differences in that of a known psychopath with normal brain functioning. It actually more closely resembles that of an animal.

There are theories that state psychopath's tire or "mature" in their late 40's-50"s, however it is unknown if it is out of boredom, late in life development or age.

The important thing to know is that they have no conscience, BUT they can fake it. They know they are supposed to cry at funerals or the death of a loved one, however it is acting the part.
